A few things to know when visiting Santa Fe…
- Uber and Lyft are both available in Santa Fe but availability is VERY LIMITED.
- Cell service is not always the best around downtown so no it’s not your phone, it’s Santa Fe.
- Elevation – Santa Fe is at 7000 ft elevation. High elevation has a few side effects you should be aware of – thinner air means you may be more tired due to less oxygen; it also means you are more likely to get dehydrated so drink lots of water (the Institute for Altitude Medicine recommends an extra 1 to 1.5 liters/day). Also, thinner air means the sun is intense, so plan accordingly.
- Nightlife – there is none. This town pretty much goes to sleep with the sun. There are a few places to go, but don’t be surprised if they are mostly empty. Check out the event list for the happenings!
- CHECK OUT THESE LOCAL NATIVE-OWNED BUSINESSES
- Dineh & Company – retail shop and gallery
- Dineh and Co. on the Plaza (66 East San Francisco Street, Suite 4) Nestled in the heart of the historic Santa Fe Plaza, our original location offers a truly unique shopping experience. From handcrafted jewelry and pottery to stunning textiles and captivating sculptures, our shelves are filled with pieces that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the region.
- Dineh & Co. on Canyon Road (621 Canyon Rd) Our flagship gallery showcases a breathtaking collection of beautiful contemporary Indigenous art. We pride ourselves on a carefully curated collection, representing a diverse range of artistic expressions from established and emerging Indigenous artists.
- Remix Audio Bar (222 N Guadalupe St) Enjoy a curated blend of vinyl records across all genres, Hi-Fi sound, and a delightful menu of healthy non-alcoholic beverages alongside Japanese-inspired small bites and craft ramen from local Chef Joel Coleman. By day, we’re a chill coffee house, and by night, a vibrant zero-proof music scene, also serving as a DJ school for the next generation of talent.
- Casa Chimayo Restaurante (409 W Water St) made a name for itself using a traditional approach with fresh local ingredients to showcase recipes developed by our grandmothers over generations. New Mexican cuisine has evolved from a blending of Spanish and Native American culture, ingredients, and traditions, resulting in a culinary experience like no other.
- Hotel Santa Fe (1501 Paseo de Peralta) As the only Native American-owned hotel in downtown Santa Fe, Hotel Santa Fe offers you a relaxed yet deeply reverent immersion into the art, architecture, music and language of the Pueblo people. For more than 25 years, we’ve celebrated and shared the very best of our culture with visitors seeking experiences not found in guidebooks.
- Santa Fe Skin Institute An aesthetic dermatology and facial esthetic practice who’s mission is to provide evidence-based care that meets and exceeds national standards to help create “The Best Version of Yourself”. Schedule a facial or other treatment while you’re in town for Indian Market!
